Meet Julia

AdventureFit has come out of my own journey. I love adventures, to travel and hike – but with a desk job and then three boys to parent, I became time-poor and exhausted, with chronic lower-back pain, and struggling to know how to build strength and fitness as someone not keen on exercise! 

​Eventually I hit a wall, realising I didn’t want this kind of life. At 35 I discovered strength training and unlocked active hobbies I enjoyed (rock climbing and hiking), which kept me motivated with my fitness journey. I learnt how to prepare properly for big missions like multi-day hikes and travelling overseas, and in this process found the confidence to do these trips solo.

Due to the competing demands of being a female, I’ve had to find the most efficient, sustainable ways to build strength, fitness and range of motion. I eventually retrained in postgraduate studies in exercise prescription and rehab, along with becoming a certified enneagram practitioner – a tool I’ve found incredibly useful for building mental resilience. It's not that I've got it all sorted, I'm still very much on this journey about learning how to get outside adventuring more, with more energy and strength and fun. AdventureFit was born out of this journey and I'd love you to be part of the learning and journey with your own story as well. â€‹

Life demands a lot of us - work, family, partners, home. No one is demanding we make time for ourselves, time to get fit, strong, confident and outdoor having fun. This newsletter is an inbox-in-your-face reminder of what you want for your life, a push to get out and do what you love.

We know you're busy and your inbox full already, so it's not heaps of info (but it will point you in that direction if you want that - after all that's what we love to do!) it's more personal reflections on my own midlife journey working out how to get out of the domestic rut and get out adventuring, and to do it as strong and fit with as little effort and stress as possible, with maximum enjoyment.
